Just when I thought I had seen everything, something catches my eye to remind me that there are still surprises out there waiting to jump out at you.
It was a a great Monday. My classes had gone well, and the students were working hard. I decided to go downtown to do a little shopping and then stop at the pharmacy to pick up some allergy medicine. I grabbed what I needed and took a quick look around and there it was: right by the cash register was a sign in Korean that read, "This season's HOT BUY! BREAST ENLARGING GUM!" I fought the urge to ask the pharmacist about it.
On the way out there was a man yelling at everyone and no one. He definitely fell in the "not all there" category, so it's not cool to joke around too much, but he did make for an interesting sidewalk show. Yelling, hissing, spitting, pointing and cussing--yeah, he was mad at someone about something!
I carefully avoided him as I passed by, lest I invite "Angry Yelling Man's" wrath and add to the sidewalk show a foreign face to be the target of misplaced rage. As I crossed the street I saw a couple of former students and advised them to be careful of "Angry Yelling Man." They just smiled and said, "You are very handsome."
A good day that ended well, wild products, random silliness... I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love Korea!
